Volvo Construction Equipment confirms the serial production of its A30 and A40 Electric Articulated Haulers

In a recent news, Volvo Construction Equipment shared the news that the serial production of their Electric Articulated Haulers have started . Two models A30 Electric and A40 Electric are being produced at  Volvo CE's Braås site in Sweden - the birthplace of the world’s first articulated hauler, Gravel Charlie, unveiled in 1966.

Volvo’s Articulated Hauler A40 has proven to be  site superstar which can endure tough conditions and the industry anticipating the the same with the electric version.  As per Volvo, the first batches of these machines will be delivered to their customers in UK and Norway followed by other parts of Europe.

Electrification of machines across the cosntruction machinery sector has become the much needed change with the global focus on achieving sustainability. Many OEM’s have started producing prototypes and testing them in actual conditions.

While the majority of the users in the industry prefer traditional hydraulic systems due to their familiarity with maintenance and superior power-to weight ratio, the change to electric models looks inevitable. It would be interesting to watch how fast the machine capacities increase.  The shift will certainly happen in few markets in the early stages followed by other markets adopting it over time.
